Robert A. (Gibby) Gibbons- (1933 – 2014)
Edmonton and Alberta Rugby has lost one of its strongest supporters for Rugby on July 13 after a painful fight with cancer with his wife Barb by his side.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held on Sunday July 20/14 at 2PM at the Ellerslie Rugby Park.
Gibby was in my view “A PEOPLES PERSON” who always had a way with people and never forgot a face, was a great salesman and rugby organizer for the Leprechaun Tiger Rugby Club. It took me at least 2 years to talk Gibby into playing Rugby (Bob played Fastball and Hockey) but after his first game in 1960 he was hooked and never looked back or stopped loving the game! Bob also played in the Over 60 RFC World Masters Games in 2005 and received a Silver Medal.
Gibby held many executive positions over the years including in 1964, Public Relations Officer for the ERU, President of the Edmonton Tiger Rugby Club in 1965 and 1979.
He also was Captain and Coach of the Tiger Firsts in 1968, 69 and 70.
Gibby always had special support for the Tiger Rugby Club and made a point of organizing functions such as “Christmas at the Strath” Annual Tiger Golf Tournament, LT Gala Fundraisers & Afternoon at the Races.

2014 Online Registration
*U17/U19 Members may have to select Adult Registration from the drop down menu to be able to proceed to payment (role in your profile would need to be Adult in this case)
Registrations must be completed by Tuesday before midnight to play in a weekend game for both adult and junior players. New adult players must submit a frontal head an shoulders photo to Bill or Mackenzie. Please co-ordinate this at a training session. A picture taken with a phone is acceptable.
Please let Jordan know of any issues or inaccuracies with the online registration at email@example.com
2014 Dues have been finalized:
Sr. Men $425 ($437 with 3% credit card transaction fee)
Sr. Women $400 ($412 with 3% credit card fee)
U13 - U19 $164 * ($169 with 3% credit card fee)
U7 - U11 $94 ($97 with 3% credit card fee)
Senior players are required to work 3 concessions as part of their dues or buy out for $200.
* U19 players must select Adult Registration from the drop down menu when registering, the U19 fee category will appear there.
These are totals including Rugby Canada and Rugby Alberta fees. Don't be confused if the amount appears as less initially during the registration process.
A slight reduction in women's dues reflects that the women have a shorter season and also more student players. The student credit has been discontinued as it is difficult to administrate. Any student owed the credit will from 2013 will be paid out shortly. To be eligible for the credit the 2013 concession requirement must have been fufilled.
Also, based on an operating grant for Jr. Rugby from the Leprechaun Tiger Alumni we have been able to reduce Jr. dues this year. A big thanks to the Alumni and those who support their fundraising initiaitves. We also recognize that asking jr members to contribute to concessions is a difficulty and have removed this requirement although we would appreciate any help we can get from our jr. membership at our concession fundraisers.
